After Building This Product for So Long, I Finally Understand What Users Mean by 'I Just Want to Try It'

Honestly, building a tool is a pretty interesting thing.

You spend a lot of time polishing features, thinking "users are definitely going to need this," only to have someone install it, take a quick look, and leave. You ask why, and they say: "I'm not sure yet if I want to use it. I just want to try it first."

"Just want to try it" — I used to not take those two words seriously.

Until a user told me: "I know auto-sync is useful, but can you let me experience it first? If it's good, I'll pay."

That's when it hit me — we've been saying "auto-sync is powerful" all along, but we never actually let people use it hands-on.

So with this update, we made a decision: Auto-sync, free for 7 days.

🎁 Let's Talk About This Free Trial

It's not a gimped version — it's the full auto-sync experience.

Just go into settings, uncheck the "Manual Sync" box. The system will ask if you want to activate the 7-day trial. Confirm, and you're all set.

For those 7 days, bookmarks you save on one computer will appear in real-time on your other computer. No need to manually click upload, no waiting for sync intervals — save and it's synced.

Before the trial ends, there's a countdown reminder in the corner. After it expires, it switches back to manual mode automatically, and your bookmark data isn't affected at all.

In plain English: we're giving you 7 days to decide for yourself whether this is worth paying for.

👤 The Profile Page, Finally Presentable

To be honest, the old profile page was pretty ugly.

Just a white card with your username on it and a few numbers below. The information was all there, but... you know, the vibe was off.

This time we scrapped everything and started over.

Here's what the new profile looks like (let me paint a picture):

When you open it, the first thing you see is your email initial as an avatar, with a green ring around it. Scroll down a bit and you'll see four clear stats:

  • Devices syncing — e.g. "3 devices syncing"
  • Storage used — how much space you've used
  • Versions retained — how many historical versions saved
  • Account status — Free / Premium

The whole page has a frosted glass aesthetic with two subtle green orbs floating in the background.

Honestly, I open it every morning just to look at the device count. It's oddly reassuring.

🌐 Speaking of Languages

We've also expanded multi-language support to 6 languages.

It used to be just Chinese and English. Now we've added German, Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese.

A German user emailed us saying: "Finally got German support. I was asking my mom to use the English version and she had no idea what she was looking at."

Messages like that? They make my day.

🧠 Some Small Experience Tweaks

Beyond the big changes above, there are some smaller improvements you might not notice right away, but they'll make the day-to-day feel smoother:

Smarter announcements The notice carousel now shows content in your language. And — no more ads when there's no active promotion. Less clutter, more peace.

Auto-sync state sync Previously, when you toggled auto/manual mode in the popup, the display might not keep up. Now the state updates in real-time — no more "wait, did I turn auto-sync on or not?"

💬 A Few Words from the Heart

At the core of this update is really just one thing: lowering the trust barrier.

The hardest part for a tool isn't that the features aren't strong enough — it's whether users are willing to spend the time to get to know you.

The 7-day free trial is our way of saying:

"Try it first. If it works, great."

If you like it, you can pay to keep using it. If you don't, your bookmarks are still there, everything goes back to normal, no harm done.

We've always believed that good tools don't need to be pushed. Once you use them, you'll know.

⚠️ Friendly Reminder

Before using any bookmark tool, we strongly recommend exporting a local backup first. If the tool doesn't meet your expectations, you can restore your original data at any time, minimizing the risk of data loss.

After all these years of writing code, I've come to realize: good products aren't built — they grow together with their users.
